Buy a Mac Mini (or other Mac) to dev on - Mac OS X is BSD-based. I have never had problems with apache/zend server/anything.
Why the hell do you need it?
Use Xdebug with eclipse, weaverslave or phpedit or VIM Forgive me if i´m heavily wrong
Why?
I've tried using any number of solutions, and none of them has made it easier and none has come close to being faster for debugging than Zend. My time is limited, I don't much care for cool hax0r solutions unless they make it possible to do things faster I'd love to use another solution if it actually made things easier and I could install it in 1 step. Until version 5 beta 2, Zend was a 1-step working install kind of thing
I'm using ZDE Beta 2 on Linux fine. Haven't tried Windows.
Free Windows Alteratives: Open Studio http://sourceforge.net/projects/openstudio is a 1 step install. works with your current apache install on windows. debugging works. PHPEclipse http://www.phpeclipse.de (not a 1 step install) debugging never worked for me, but maybe it's improved since. good integration with CVS or SVN through Eclipse.
Just to clarify.
On Windows I typically use XAMPP for Apache. 1 easy install, and to uninstall you just delete the folder. http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html
I've just started playing with 5 beta here, but haven't looked at debugging. I always use apache2 though.
How about going back to 4.02?
I use the beta 2 since release on a XP pro.
I run local web with easyphp. I have less problem than under mandriva My frequently problem is freezing. with only solution to killJavaW process. But I'm crasy with my laptop where run always picasa, googleDesktop, OOo, xChat, winCvs, skype, easyPHP, thundirbird(110Mo in ram!!!), Gaim, winamp or zinf, and sometime more... |
