Where would Pyrus leave "pear installer" users? Developers using it to build application installation scripts?
Any "rough" guess at when Pyrus could be used in production? Thank you.
Hi Roland,
Pyrus is designed to work side by side with PEAR users. You can continue to use the PEAR installer if you want, while at the same time using Pyrus. I wouldn't recommend using them to manage the same repository, but it may be possible to design a Pyrus registry for managing a PEAR-style registry. This would allow Pyrus/PEAR to literally co-exist. Pyrus will probably not be ready for production until PHP 5.3.0 comes out.
Greg, it seems that your PEARSVN links in this article do not work.
They all took me back to the blog's homepage. Regards, Stefan
Hi Stefan,
Looks like serendipity is on the fritz again. This seems to happen periodically for no apparent reason
Hi Greg,
I am really looking forward to the first usable version of Pyrus (and therefore PHP 5.3 as well), it sounds very good to me! Another topic, have you found a working solution to relocate PEAR installations? I.e. from /path1/php/ and /path2/pear/ to a usable PEAR installer in /path3/php/ , when the installed and working PEAR directory just has been moved to a new location /path4/pear/ ? The newly compiled and prefixed /path3/php/ is working without problems and uses an adapted include_path for the new /path4/pear/ . http://aspn.activestate.com/ASPN/Mail/Message/pear-dev/3263064 Even when I config-set all directory related settings according to the new paths, pear list just results in "no packages installed". Greetings from Germany, René |
