finally - a new release of phpDocumentor

phpDocumentor has been foundering for about a year, while I struggled with the PEAR installer. Well, just now I released 1.3.0RC4 through pear.php.net. A sourceforge release will follow some time in the next week or so. This release is significant in that it fixes fatal errors encountered in PHP 5.0.5, and several significant bugs. There is more work to be done before 1.3.0, but this is a big relief for me.

Getting this one out the door proved to be very difficult. pear.php.net was timing out prior to finishing the release upload process. This always sucks. I did a bit of debugging (thank you ZDE 5.0) and some serious refactoring to the pearweb code. What really surprised me was an incredible inefficiency in Archive_Tar that was actually iterating over the entire archive even when requested files had been extracted. I fixed this manually up at pear.php.net, and even with the existing inefficient pearweb code, the upload completed successfully. Wheeee, isn't development fun

Partial documentation for the File_XSPF package is now available thanks to the integration of the excellent PHP Documentor 1.3.0 RC3 with Zend Studio. The documentation is still a work in progress (mostly lunchtimes and commuting time), but will hopefull

I recently started getting into very heavy PHP object oriented programming with the release of PHP5. I understand that PHP probably does not have the best speed or reliability for objects at this point, but it has definetly come a long way from PHP4.

I notice many of the tags you use in documentor can now be automatically included if you are documenting PHP5 source. Items such as public, private, abstract are now all included and used within the PHP5 code. I also noticed the new feature of PHP reflections, which provides an object PHP imlimentation to gather the information from classes much easier, than parsing the file line for line.

All this urges me to ask you what you may have planned for PHP Documentor 2.0, as you mentioned in the last release, that is comeing next. Do you have any roadmap or features listed that you want to include in this release? Also, do you think you might be implimenting it based off PHP relections, since the technology is there?

All in all, this program is great, and a must have for any developer who plans to release his code into the wild jungles of the online script kiddies such as myself.
